Bursa Regional State Symphony Orchestra Tours Azerbaijan (May 2018)

Bursa Regional State Symphony Orchestra (BBDSO) completed its tour of three largest cities in Azerbaijan, namely Nakhchivan, Baku and Ganja, for the centennial of Azerbaijan's foundation. BBDSO, the first orchestra from the Republic of Turkey to tour Azerbaijan, performed for Azerbaijani music fans during concerts in which popular Turkish and Azerbaijani orchestra works and ariosos were performed. Top level bureaucrats from the country also attended the concert.

Supported by Bursa Philharmonic Society, which has been sponsored by Uludağ Premium for 8 years, Bursa Regional State Symphony Orchestra (BBDSO) brought classical music to a larger audience and now set sail to Azerbaijan, Turkey's friend and sister country.

Turkish Statistical Institute research data for 2015-2016 shows that across Turkey, the number of orchestra, choir and band audience decreased compared to the previous season, while the number of fans in Bursa increased by 45.6% in 2015-2016 season. This is a proud moment for Uludağ Premium Family, proving that the support provided by the private sector and regional government to Bursa is reciprocated by art lovers in Bursa.

The orchestra met Azerbaijani music fans at a tour consisting of the three largest cities in Azerbaijan, namely Nakhchivan, Baku and Ganja, for the centennial of Azerbaijan's foundation. Erkan Özoral, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan; Choi Suk-Ying, South Korean Ambassador to Azerbaijan, and Manne Wängborg, Swedish Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, participated in the Baku concert while Vasıf Talibov, Chairperson of the Parliament and Member of Parliament at Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and high state officials went to the concert in Nakhchivan. Orhan Işık, Consul General to Ganja, and Elmar Aliyev, Governor of Ganja, attended the concert in Ganja.

Renowned tenors Samir Ceferov, Elton Huseynaliev and Ehtiram Huseynov performed as soloists alongside the orchestra during the concerts conducted by Azerbaijani conductor Yalçın Adıgüzel, with Levent Gündüz from Izmir State Opera and Ballet performing to Azerbaijani music fans as soloist. BBDSO became the first orchestra from the Republic of Turkey to tour Azerbaijan and performed a program full of popular Turkish and Azerbaijani orchestra works and ariosos for Azerbaijani music fans during the concerts.
